The first exhibition in the building at Erlenweg 5 opened in autumn 2021 and was shown until summer 2024. Over 350 works by more than 20 artists were on display, integrated into an open room-in-room concept. The homage to the late photographer Peter Lindberg, with whom the collector was a close friend, was the focal point on the first floor. Viewers got a comprehensive impression of the oeuvre of the Italian photographer Gian Paolo Barbieri as they continued their tour. The documentary film about his life’s work “The Man and the Beauty” by Emiliano Scatarzi was partly filmed in the Nicola Erni Collection.
To be discovered on the “Art Walk” were other large-scale works by Mark Bradford, Rashid Johnson, Daido Moriyama and Andy Warhol, as well as collaborative paintings by Jean-Michel Basquiat/Andy Warhol, which show formal and thematic connections. In addition, visitors experienced works by Doug Aitken, Miles Aldridge, Elmgreen & Dragset, Hassan Hajjaj, Duane Hanson, Sylvie Fleury, Nick Knight, Helmut Newton, Stephanie Pfriender Stylander, Rankin, Julian Schnabel, Cindy Sherman and Emma Summerton.

To the master who made his mark on the history of contemporary fashion photography, House of Lucie Ostuni and The Lucie Awards dedicate “Gian Paolo Barbieri: Beyond Fashion”, a retrospective exhibition realised in collaboration with the Gian Paolo Barbieri Foundation and 29 Arts In Progress Gallery, Milan which will be on view from the 5th of July to the 31st of August 2024.
Alongside many masterworks by Barbieri, there will also be shown some previously unpublished photographs ranging from the 1960’s to the year 2000, the product of in-depth research conducted inside the artist’s archive.
Gian Paolo Barbieri managed to give a unique perspective to Italian fashion that no one had yet imagined, becoming a friend and ally to the designers who the advent of made in Italy transformed into the protagonists of a new era of costume and fashion. At their side, Barbieri interprets the most beautiful chapter of that new reawakening.
