Prasert: Oil Fund loan may not be enough
The government's plan to borrow more money to stabilise the state Oil Fund might not be adequate to cover rising energy prices, former PTT CEO Prasert Bunsumpun said on Wednesday.
Mr Prasert said this after the National Energy Policy Committee decided to borrow another 20 billion baht to stabilise the Oil Fund. This would increase the loan total to 30 billion baht.

He said the current retail prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) do not reflect their actual price, which is rising continuously.
"We wouldn't want the Oil Fund to face a massive debt of almost 100 billion baht as it did some years ago.
"The gas price restructuring policy that the Energy Ministry is implementing is a good thing, but it could be a time bomb if it is left in place for too long because many Thais use LPG, to the extent of 100 billion baht a year," said the former chief of the state-owned energy conglomerate.
He said crude oil prices should hover around US$110-120 a barrel this year.
